Hi, I’m Kyle
Custom Craftsman
You may have noticed that our logo prominently features a poppy. That choice is no accident.
As a combat veteran of the Global War on Terror—and someone who went on to serve at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs—I carry with me the memories, emotions, and lessons of my time in Afghanistan. As a young man in that war, I made a personal vow: never to forget what I saw, how I felt, and the brothers and sisters I served alongside. Every day since, I’ve done something to honor that promise. The poppy in our logo is the most recent, and one of the most meaningful, tributes to that pledge.
Since World War I, the red poppy has symbolized remembrance and sacrifice. Made famous by the poem “In Flanders Fields” by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, the poppy grew in war-torn fields where so many soldiers were laid to rest. The image resonated across generations and nations—becoming a global symbol of remembrance in Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
In America, while poppies are more commonly seen in May around Memorial Day, their message is timeless: a tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country. Veterans Day, observed on November 11th—the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month—marks the end of World War I and reminds us to honor all who served.
At Toto Crafted Living, the poppy in our logo serves as a permanent reminder of those sacrifices. It’s a symbol of the freedom we enjoy—the freedom to create, to build, to grow a business, and to cherish time with our families. For me, creating is not just a job—it’s a form of therapy, a way to heal, grow, and give back.
Lest we forget.
Toto Crafted Living began when I met my wife, Courtney. We were both new homeowners, excited to make our spaces feel like home. Courtney has a natural eye for design—always full of creative, custom ideas. She wanted our home to be both beautiful and functional.
It started small. A blanket ladder. Dog bowl holders. Little touches that made a big difference. As the son of a carpenter, I had the tools and skills to bring her ideas to life.
Things really took off when I built all the décor for our wedding. Each piece was handcrafted to match Courtney’s vision. Guests noticed. Even the venue staff were impressed. That’s when someone first said, “You should start your own business.”
Later, we bought our forever home. It needed work to feel like ours. Over five years, we painted every wall, replaced flooring, and tackled big projects. When our daughters were born, we got even more creative. We built a custom indoor library and a one-of-a-kind backyard treehouse. My dad and I worked on both together. I learned a lot and made memories I’ll never forget.
Today, we’re proud of what we’ve built. We love opening our home to friends and family. What started as a hobby turned into a calling. That’s how Toto Crafted Living was born.
We’d be honored to help bring your home to life—creating something that’s not only beautiful and functional, but uniquely yours.
